Anora's Realm (prototype)
Hello itch.io! New creator here! I'm super excited to be here!
This is my first attempt at creating (and sharing) a video game. It is a Game Boy Color game made using GB Studio, which I recently discovered and have been enjoying playing around with! It's a fairly simple game: you start in a small village, and can either explore a couple of different fields, or go into a small maze of portals that teleport you to different rooms.
This will never become a full game, however I do plan to use it to experiment with new ideas and scripts, and will occasionally update it with new areas and things to do to make it more fun. I hope you enjoy your time in my little realm!
PS. All artwork and music are my own creations, however I'm still fairly new to making pixel art and 8-bit music, so I want to apologize in advance if any of it bothers anyone!

~ UPDATES ~

- Added a working HP meter. It has 10 sections, and each one should go down whenever an enemy ouside the field hurts you.
- Made some new NPC sprites! You will now see phoenixes and slimes living alongside the dragons of Anora's Realm. Also, some dragon NPCs have been transformed into one of these new creatures!
- The starting area got a small redesign. There are bushes instead of fencing for the top-half border, and signs indicating where each exit leads to.
- I added a couple of entrances to a forest area, which you can reach by going north in both the starting area and the field. The forest itself hasn't been created yet, however you can still enter the area it will be through either forest entrance.
- There are now two shops, one in the starting area and another on Palmtree Island. The shopkeepers are still restocking (a.k.a. still no item mechanic) even though their shelves are obviously fully stocked.
- Several bug fixes and sprite edits.
For those of you who have tried my prototype, I would love to hear what you think! As someone who is still learning, any kind of advice or suggestion (don't be afraid to throw an idea or two at me, if you have any!) will be greatly appreciated!

(P.S. Have you found the hidden portal to the cave yet? If not, I have a video on YouTube that can help you out a bit! You don't get anything special for reaching the end at the moment, but I am working on a small but fun reward for interacting with the [REDACTED] in the final room.)

Install instructions
Just drop the .gbc file into your preferred ROM folder! Tested and guaranteed to work with Visual Boy Advance on PC and an Everdrive GB X5 on a physical Game Boy Color.
